This is a real panda! China has this “panda diplomacy” and this one will be sent to Japan as an friendship envoy. For the safety reason he sits as a passenger with his feeder, not in a cage. Fastening the seat belt, wearing a diaper, eating bamboos..etc

*Panda on a plane. What could be better.

Seriously. No other animal could take its place. This is the best plane ride of all time.

Needless to say, my friend Greg does work. His reasoning why the awesome photo above is possibly a fake.

“First off, this article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16000130explains how they ACTUALLY transport the world’s most cuddly bears.

Second, that photo was released separately in both 2009 and 2011 and the quotes given then say it’s a panda being transported to the U.S., whereas the current quote says Japan.

Third, that is definitely not business class on a 12-17 hour flight from China to the U.S. The business class seats on China Airlines (the stated carrier in the original picture) are all leather and much roomier.

Fourth, considering Pandas are solitary animals and have attacked humans out of irritation, it just seems way to unreasonable that an airline would commit to having one enclosed in a metal tube at 35,000 ft for half a day with no restraints surrounded by obviously curious passengers, the pressure changes from a flight and the incredibly unsoothing noises of both the plane and those damn stewardesses on the intercom. Not to mention no insurance company in their right mind would cover such a flight.”
